pretty sure your going to need a wideband to tune it.. I came across the same issue when i did the L83 swap in my 87 silverado using the air raid MAF adapter... ran weird, long term fuel trims went way lean or way rich... been a few years. Idled supppppper low, exhaust sounded different. Watched a guy on youtube how to maf tune l83 and poof fixed it. I used a 14point7 wideband sensor adapter + used wideband sensor, calibrated wideband per instructions and runs great.
