The way I do it is cut the rag joint flange off of the steering shaft and drill the ramaining shaft out of the center with a 3/4" drill. Then shorten the shaft, slide the flange back over the shaft and weld it to the shaft. This way looks a lot cleaner and is just a better way IMO.
