Ok, at the risk of being made fun of I got mine in without too much trouble using the following method and tools.

Tool - One of those blue plastic trim tools, the one with the rounded end.
Hot water - soaked them in hot water to make them a bit more pliable.
KY jelly - added a bit to the bump stop "tab" and some to the area on the control arm.

Tilt the bump stop up and put the edge of the tab in about the middle of the slot, work both sides in with the trim tool and then push/slide it into place while working both sides with the tool.

Didn't take me 5 minutes per side.
