Around here the chain stores really suck. prices are cheap but you get the junk that you pay for. More and more of the professional parts stores, many independant ones, are disappearing and good quality yet affordable parts are going with them. Quality parts are getting harder to find in general. In the last 7 years I have had to replace my water pump five times, my clutch fan 3 times (no the fan is not bent or out of balance),the starter 3 times, my HEI module 4 times and the distributor pick up coil 3 times. On a Toyota I have I replaced the water pump 3 times in two years and the clutch fan as many times. I have gotten tired of this and now spend more money at the GM and Toyota dealers. I pay more up front but it has ended up cheaper in the long run. I still do trust brands like Federal Mogul, Moog, CR, etc but good struff is definetly harder to find no matter where you are.
