I like your plan. There's been much more cam talk over the years in the truck section of the square forums and there's one guy in particular that always seemed like he had a lot of experience in getting the most out of stockish motors. Here's
a thread for some ideas and the guy I was thinking of is Rich Weyand. Not to discount anyone else, but he used to post a lot about what you're thinking of doing. Good search fodder.
