I put a stock set of valve covers on and was able to get the cab mounted but the valve cover is within a half inch of the firewall. I don’t remember it being that close before I took it apart.
Only specific offset cross-member I know of is for the 292 L6 in K/ frames. The fuel pump and motor mount trade positions between the 230/250 and the 292.
The 292 L6 is a tall block and develops a lot of torque, so they moved the RH mount forward to counteract it. On a 2WD [C/-] frame the mounts hit the frame OK, but the 4WD frames are wider, so a diagonal X-member is used on this engine only. If your truck came with a 292 originally, you might have holes in the wrong spots for a V8.
V8s have symmetrical motormounts, unless I'm wrong.
