78 changed to electric oil gauge. If you are using a 78 cluster in a 77 truck, you will have to run a wire from the sender and wire per the 78 schematic for this to work.

That is the big change on the cluster between 77 and 78.

I see just from looking at the chart, there are some other differences. Turn indicators for example, in a different location on a 78.
