They start at the lower seam on the firewall where floor pan is welded to firewall and go all the way to where rear floor meets the cab pan. You see how they rise up in the picture to meet rear floor.
You can use air hammer but makes a mess. Drilling out spots is better and you can reinstall them if they aren't rotten. Only down side it takes longer. It's a big job taking them out. Of those 9 I parted out, only one had a rotten floor and rest were solid. Personally, it wasn't worth the trouble to pull them out for $75 they bring. 3hr job to remove them so they can be re-used.
Rust belt guys would cry if they saw what I sent to scrapper over the yrs. Rust free floors and beds.
