The problem with rear arm rests is that when you take the seat out, the arm rests would still be there, which could interfere with boxes or your cargo.
And depending on where they are located, it could make even removing the seat more awkward.

I've got a '61, and the rear seat is in and out at least once a month so I can haul all my gear for the NE Georgia Swap Meet, but I also pull it out to move furniture, etc.
