been there! thick clothes too ! I always find the pieces sticking out them too.
just a thought , but on a 4X4 I prefer the doors, it is high enough up that you have to crawl over/onto the gate to get at stuff...
in an ideal world I would re-design it so that it has a lift gate (no post in the rear view mirror), and doors on the bottom.
