What I figured out with my old Galaxy s7 (went for an unexpected swim) and replacement Galaxy s8 is that the way you take the picture on the phone matters how it shows up on the board.
Here's how I ensure my pics turn out right on the board:
Looking at the phone screen, tilt phone horizontally to the left. I take every picture that way, and it has worked great for me.

If the phone is straight up and down for me, the pic will look sideways on here. If it is tilted towards the right, it will be upside down on here.
