Re: 1973 Blazer Build/Resto... Input please!

Continuing my rust hunt and jobs list.

Both front fenders got a pass, and are good to go aside from a few small dings.

The forward lower corner of the drivers door had a bubble, so I ground it out... There was a skim of filler, but the rust seemed very localized.

I think cutting out the rotten piece and letting in a patch will work well.
I pulled off the door trim to see what the insides looked like, and it confirmed my thoughts.

View of the front corner, and view looking from top read looking forward shows that the rest of the door is sound.

I mentioned that it had some odd aftermarket diamond plate rocker protection panels... So they came off..

Behind was full of dust and crud, and at first glance it looked solid, but I went over it tapping with a screwdriver... The rear corner near the joint to the rear quarter sounded odd... and quickly gave up its secret when I attacked with a screwdriver, and grinder... The area was full of debris, silt and small rocks!

Further prodding opened a hole behind the outer rocker.
Using the flash exposes it.

Again, a localized patch should make this good, altho I will wait until its cut out before I fully commit.
