So time to update the diesel side.
I have been driving the truck for 2 summers and now have 10,000mi on it. It rides better than anything else I own. Last spring I added cruise control (best thing ever) because we do some long distance traveling. We have driven to Charlotte NC twice and Columbus OH once, pulling out 18' camper. We are getting 14mpg on the highway with the trailer. So we can drive 300mi on 22gal tank. Charlotte trips have been each been over 2000mi in 9 days.
