Volksworld is correct. The A-833 is the same code Chrysler used for transmissions used in the cars they built. The Chevrolet uses the Chrysler transmission. It is really neat the way they made it overdrive. If you notice the pictures from Dcarey, the 3 & 4 shift lever puts the rod down instead of up. The unsuspecting driver then shifts 1, 2, 4, 3. They only needed 2 special parts to make the overdrive. The cluster gear has a very large 3rd gear on it and the 3rd speed gear is very small, making 3rd gear overdrive. So the shift sequence is: low, 2nd, 4th ( direct ), then 3rd ( overdrive ). Ford did the same trick with their top loader. If you ever see a Ford top loader for sale CHEAP, look for the 3-4 lever to be upside down. That is used in pickups, like GM, but not cars. Roy
