Yes - inside. And, short term, you find a collection of tiny mouse poop, pee (and the associated smell), bedding material (leaves, papers, bounce dryer sheets) or damage (chewing, holes in the headliner, etc).

Longer term you find partially or fully decomposed bodies in unexpected orifices, usually when you have your face under the dash or otherwise in close proximity.
