I'm not sure how clear my explanation was, so I'll try again.
If you are 1-1/2'' short of cable length, make sure the lower end of the cable is loose from the threaded rod that connects the whole cable circuit to the chassis spring.
Then attach to the Pedal Assembly.
Route your cable thru the old cable clamps. [The LMC clamps are crap.]
On reassembly, you may have to move the two jam nuts 1-1/2'' closer to the rear, before attaching the Chassis Return Spring.
