As an alternative to cutting the seat foam, you might try the 2 inch lowering brackets I did from Full Custom Fabrication. Mine had the same issue and it was a great help.

I have been looking at those. The only problems I see is seat becomes unadjustable - which only matters if wife is driving, and I was wanting to put one of those thin 8 inch subwoofers under the seat. Would there be enough room for that?
