I actually just did some work on my bed. I removed all the old wood took and the bed off. Pressure washed the whole chassis, wire brushed and scraped off 60 years of gunk, and then painted it gloss black with rustoleum thinned for a sprayer. I rattle canned the diff cover with metallic hammertone (not pictured). I just dropped truck off yesterday for paint!
As a woodworker I have the tools to make my own bed wood but by the time I priced out some 4/4 S$S white oak it was close to $500. Hell even the rawer rough 5/4 was too much. To then take the time to do all of the additional work planing and routing didn't seem worth it to me. So I am just going to get the Oak wood kit from car and truck shop here in Charlotte and then varnish it myself....
