If your fenders are straight, double check the measurement from the fender lip to the tire or other reference point. If I recall, I simply checked how many fingers fit between the fender and the tire, shifted it a little, stood back and looked at it a while, and decided it was good. You'll also want to verify final placement with the hood on and closed.
