made good progress tonight, spent 6 hours in the shop and got what I wanted to get done.....
Had the flywheel resurfaced ($48) makes a big difference. Installed the new clutch and think I invented a new way to remove the pilot bushing. Since it's brass I just tapped on a 5/8 bolt and then threaded it into the bushing. I kept threading the bolt until it pushed against the crank and the bearing slid right out. I then used that to seat the new bearing....
