Drive or 3rd what ever you want to call it. OD gears are traditionally weak since they are small compared to the drive gear. A 4L80 could get away with towing in OD on flat lands.

The 4L65E, TH700R4, 4L60, and 4L70E. I like them, and have 2 going into projects right now. Just they should never of been truck transmissions. There prefect for cars, but I have my reservations on them for trucks I work. My friend got a level 5 trans behind a 400hp 07 rcsb. His stock Corvette servo trans held for 65000 miles. The level 5 died in less then 20000. He beat on his truck like it owed money, and tried to compensate for it.

The new trans like my 18 Silverado are the 6L80, and designed to do it. Or at least better at taking it.

Plus like a guy above said make sure your truck trailer combo is level when towing so it doesn't walk all over the road. Get a adjustable drop hitch to help find the sweet spot.
