I dunno who told you that but they are tragically misinformed. The water pump on the eco boost trucks is external like any old water pump, only pays 2.4 hours to r&r. We have 30+ of the 150s from 15 up to 21 with the 3.5 ecoboost and haven't had any major notable concerns or problems with them. I work for a public water utility in the fleet department so I see it all. These trucks are loaded down from the word go and not used in a nice manor their entire service life. We've seen a few high pressure pumps go, easy fix, and a few water pumps, again an easy fix.
