I have also seen some old bodywork on these trucks that was done in brazing. I remember back in the 70's when I was learning to gas weld with the torch on body steel I would braze sometimes because it warped less and was easier to grind, it does plug up a grinding disc easily though, no flap discs available back then.

I think brazing replaced lead in some areas. Not sure one or the other in the 1950's, but I don't think body filler existed back then. I think body filler gets abused today. LOL
