292's pull their own weight. I have a '72 Blazer project I intend on mounting a 292 L6 into, w/Rockwell 221/SM465. Currently that chassis has 3.08 gears but I may change it. It's all a long way off.
The 292 in a K/ series truck requires a special [diagonal] crossmember.
