There is info in there on how to determine primary rod size.

You might need to pop a rod out to see what you’ve got.

I was looking at this page and saw lists of many of the problems I am having including sooting out the tailpipe. It really sounds like it is a needle and jet problem. I also noticed that when I was trying to adjust the idle mixture screws it seems like I could turn the screws a couple of turns and nothing would change.
