X2 on replacing the cables. Also the addition small wire on the ground tells me that they aren't oem anyways. I caught a battery on fire driving down the road in my blue and white 71 because of an old + battery cable. Lost all power and it's crazy how fast a human can move when there is a fire. Thankfully the battery lug was loose and I was able to pull it off and avoid disaster.
