IMO the A6 was one of the most reliable compressors ever built in its era. I would still flush the system with an approved flush kit and solvent, replace the receiver drier, refill with proper amount of oil and refrigerant. should work perfect for years to come.
My AC Tech did all the work. I have used him for 4 years. He has been working on cars/trucks for many years.
