Obviously they have tv budgets, and time frames to work with.

But let's say I was to recreate the project. Is there any disadvantage to shortening the body, and welding the bed to the cab portion? Think a F250 version of a CJ8?

I am fairly new to 4x4's. Currently I have a 1/2 finished Willy's wagon that I will work on when I take a weeks vaca in December. Plus I had a K20, but I only explored dirt roads with it.
GM already did that. They are called Blazers and Jimmys. Short body, check. Bedsides connected to the cab, check.
