Vibrant website says it doesn't matter. Edit: I should say...Vibrant website used to say it doesn't matter. I was trying to remember their wording on that, it was something like "designed for mid pipe or after muffler installation....etc"
Anyhow, it prompted me to look it up and now they simply don't seem to say.
