Only thing I would suggest for future work is to Epoxy the weld areas before you start adding filler. The Epoxy helps seal things up better for rust protection. Most auto paint supply stores will carry a 2-part 'real' epoxy in a rattle can for those not using/mixing/spraying w/a gun.
