There are issues with welding the cage directly to the frame. The body is not, for good reason. If you insist at least figure out a way to attach it to the frame using bushings. It would be hard to preserve the stock look. The seat/seatbelts are not, if the body is that weak what good is it if the cage holds up but the body that you are strapped to does not?

A well built cage attached to the body will work fine for 99% of our blazers. consider attaching it using plates to spread the energy over a larger area, consider attaching it in addtional locations (IE the bed floor & the bedsides) you get the idea.

I do know a bit about this, heres a pic of the truck I helped my brother build to race in WSORR (I know, I know... but it's powered by a Chevy )
