I always glue the gaskets, even the one piece, to the pan with black RTV and let it sit for a few hours or overnight. I put the pan bolts down through the holes to keep them aligned, and also use some blue tape. Gasket stays on the pan whether it is upside down when installing on an engine stand or when putting it on the engine when it is in the truck.
