I dont know much about rebuilding trannys, but fixing it would allow you to check off many of the goals on your "re-do" list while still maintaining a functional vehicle. I personally find it more enjoyable to do upgrades litlle by little while still driving the truck. This route also works better for my budget. (kinda like an installment plan) just my 2 cents.
