For those that may not know: what is happening in this photo is they are starting those dragsters.
The cars are parked on a set of rollers, like a dynamometer, and the rear wheels spun to fire them off.
Prior to this the cars were push started in a very choreographed ballet of pushing, crossing over the lanes of the track and driving back to the starting line.
