I have found a shop in California (I live in Texas) that has offered me two choices. 1) Send my engine to him and let him see if he can repair the original cracked end cap. After seeing photos he is fairly convinced that he can repair it. Then he would overhaul and rebuild the engine and head to a re-manufactured condition or 2) He has a late model 261 block that he will build to my specs and install all new parts.

He is pushing for option 1 on a cost basis, but after seeing his work on a head, I want the whole engine to look that great. He says that option 2 is about 2x the cost of option 1. We're going to have a discussion on the pros and cons of each option. Then I will decide.
