Re: Anybody wish they’d left theirs rough and not taken it apart?

I'll say this, if you start driving them before you get them finished most never get finished. My 71 won't get the show paint job that the 48 gets but it may be what pulls the 48 to the shows where I want it clean when I get there. I think I counted one day and my uncle had drilled 46 holes in the 71 to mount different things when he had it. I wish my dad had never given him that electric drill for Christmas.

I'd say it is personal choice, some guys are all about the chasing trophies to the point they check to see who is going to be at an event so they can go to a different one if they figure that a rig that shows up can beat them. More of us could give a rip about awards and seeing other rigs and visiting with car and truck folk is what it is all about. Probably the only thing the 71 will ever win at a show is a can of wax as a door prize.

My ongoing truck projects:
48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
