Good news. The engine is a 400 sbc! see the gm casting on the back of the block and the listing of casting codes. Big E's 62 was saying the low HP is due to it being a smog engine. We have some double hump heads and 4 barrel aluminum intake with a holly carb we can throw on top of it. That should help. Plus not having all that smog stuff on it.

Next update, the truck had a bunch of parts in the cab (5 lug disk brakes, power brake booster, power steering pump etc). Big E and I noticed the rear end had been changed. Well, he popped the back hub caps off yesterday and the PO already converted to 5 lug rear end. Looks like we will be upgrading the front!
