I know what you mean about the whole swap idea....I seriously gave it a lot of thought on my IH build..
The IH was already a 4wd so that part was simple...I used a suburban for the donor axles..and gave a lot of thought about doing a frame swap...the more I measured and the more thought i put into it, and remembering all I went thru with my AD frame swap, I gave up on that idea and stuck with the stock frame...no regrets there..
Sounds like you have capabilities of pulling it off with your background...
