Any '73-'87 donor 2wd 1/2 ton will work. I went with the '81+ because I wanted the metric power steering box for my LS swap.

I chopped off the whole frame at the firewall to make sure I got everything I needed and to use the donor frame as reference on where to install the 2wd crossmember on my 4x4 frame.

I also got the 3.42 geared 8.5" 10 bolt and rear spring hangers from the same truck.

I thought about changing the mirrors, but I need to keep them non-electric (manual). Plus I tow my camping trailer, so they need to stay a reasonable size too.
