All the crashes I ever investigated, I never downloaded any of the car's "blackbox" info. Now, that said, I didn't investigate fatalities, but then I never heard of any of those guys doing it either. You'd most likely have to get a warrant in order to do that anyway. Now, insurance company, that's a different kettle of fish.
