If you have a 67/68 mirror bracket, you could drill 3 holes into the cab ceiling and mount it there. On 67-71 cabs that area is raised, but I'm not sure how much, or if it would even make a difference.
I had a '67 K/10 Suburban that the PO had glued a '72-style mirror onto the windshield.
Hated it.
Always drooping, and it bounced around with vibrations at speed so much, I had to grab it to stabilize it to check my six. Mounting a proper OEM mirror bracket changed that. And by luck I had a spare in my parts bin.
I had a spare mirror too. When I got a 12'' wide mirror out of a junkyard station wagon, I mounted it in my '68 Stepside. So the Sub got the Stepside's old mirror.
