I believe Ebay is a different story, I've bought a few things through Ebay from vendors in my state without any tax added. Maybe because the transaction is handled through Ebay which is in a different state ?
Amazon built a new warehouse in my state and now charge tax, I've moved to Jet.com and Wayfair since......
