Well, yes and no. The stock Chevy Thermostat Housing is made from cast aluminum. Stock OEM form, it has no hole for a temp probe. My original piece broke, once when I overtightened it. I went to Pep Boys and showed them the broken part. They didn't have anything like that for a [then] 25 year old Chevy L6. But, the parts guy started looking around amongst other makes and found a Thermostat Housing from [I think] a Toyota Landcruiser that had the big ''I-6'' 2F 4.2 Liter. (It was a clone of the old Chevy 261 L6 -- a Korean War logistics expedient, that stayed).
The Toyota housing is made of cast iron, fits the same, and does have a port for a temperature probe.
Hoses fit, no issues.
Moral of the story: Chevys have L6s, Ford and Toyota call it an I-6.
