That is kinda weird about the Schumackers (sp) I have 2 of them that are well over 20 years old by now and never an issue. One of them has been left out in downpours and never failed. I spent several hundred on a snap on charger years back and just out of warranty it popped the transformer, same with the 2 I have had from Napa (not sure of the brand). Maybe they have gone cheap like everything else seems to have.
