I ran into this problem with my panel. I had bought the CPP HD 4" dropped springs (that are supposed to be for burbs/panels) and let me tell you, I got about 6" of drop. Not happy about that.

I talked to Early Classic Enterprise as their springs are actually rated for 1/2 ton and not light weight crap like CPP. They told me to use 1" LESS drop than I actually wanted, since the extra weight would compress them about an 1". Since I wanted a 4" drop, I ordered 3" springs. Let me tell you, they nailed it.

Here's a couple pics, without exhaust is CPP, with is ECE. Full pic is with the 3.5"/4" drop.
