I finally wrapped the side-panel project today. Honestly, the trim rails turned out amazing! I ended up using a combination of pop-rivets and 3M trim adhesive (the really thin stuff) to bond them to the bed rails. Unless you REALLY know what the original profile looked like I don't think anyone would ever suspect these aren't factory.
