I just had to have a look at the rear brakes, so while my wife thought I was still having dinner with colleagues, I was actually in the garage tinkering
Ofcourse the drum had no intension of coming off easily, so I had to force feed some WD40 in there and gently wack it with a 5 pound hammer..
after some swearing, prodding, poking, a beer, a sigaret and some more prodding, poking and swearing the damn thing finally gave way! now I'm left with a puzzle. luckily I left the left side one, so I'll know how to put it back together
this does leave me with a dilemma..I am doing the brakes and while I'm working on the rear end, I would like to convert the back to 5 lug by replacing the axle shaft from a 5 lug model. (front is already 5 lug because of the '73 cross member)
I guess I have to take the amount of splines, the length of the axle and the thickness at the bearing points into consideration? because I want to make sure this is actually possible before I start ripping things apart.
any info is greatly appreciated!
