I just put a 400 in my 71 k20. My 4 had a rough cast spot that I decked flat and i also drilled and tapped it....no biggie. But I was a bit worried about doing it.

My oe wire loom mounts on the back of the engine on the bell flange were not drilled either if your going for the oe look.
