Dimmer switch would be my first guess. I thought my switch went out, so I bought a new one, but that didn't fix it. Then I remembered that I had disconnected the plug at the core support for some reason and forgot to hook them back up

Anyways, I left the new switch in, and about a year and a half later, that new switch went bad. Replaced it with the one I first took out, and that switch has been great ever since
