I believe a front sway bar does help a 1/2 ton truck with stock springs feel better in town or on the highway. I used a homemade setup to install a front bar from a square body truck into mine years ago. Last summer I replaced it with a stock bar that I removed from a GMC Panel. Both bars make a noticeable difference. If I were junkyard scrounging for a bar I'd start with a YJ Jeep. I did some quick measuring last summer and I believe the YJ bar(s) could be installed fairly easily.
